Liverpool kick-off their 2010-11 Carling Cup campaign by playing host to Northampton Town at Anfield.
The League Two side secured a third-round clash with the Reds after beating Reading on penalties last month.
The Reds last played Northampton in a competitive fixture in 1966 when the two teams fought out a goalless stalemate at the County Ground.
However, the Cobblers' last visit to Anfield ended in a 5-0 defeat thanks to goals from Ian St John, Willie Stevenson, Roger Hunt, Ian Callaghan and Peter Thompson in November 1965.
