The Reds skipper missed Saturday's goalless draw with Fulham after failing to recover from the groin strain which forced him to pull out of the England squad the previous week.
But manager Rafael Benitez expects to be able to call on the services of his skipper for a game which could secure Liverpool's progress into the knock-out phase of the competition.
"We will train this morning and then we will see," said Benitez today. "But I think he will be fit.
"It's always important to have quality players available and players who can change games, so clearly Steven's return will be a boost for us."
The boss has reported no fresh injury concerns after the weekend's match, with only Martin Skrtel and Philipp Degen still sidelined.
Stay tuned to Liverpoolfc.tv later today for all the news from Rafa's pre-match press conference.
