Earlier this season the sides drew 2-2 at Anfield. It was City's sixth successive league draw of the campaign (a run that extended to seven). Martin Skrtel opened the scoring with his first goal for the Reds, before Emmanuel Adebayor and Stephen Ireland gave City the lead. Within a minute however Yossi Benayoun had equalised.
