French midfielder Bruno Cheyrou has left Anfield to join Marseilles on a year long loan.
Cheyrou was in Marseilles today completing a medical after opting to link up with the club which knocked Liverpool out of last season's UEFA Cup.
"I had to see if I wanted to opt to stay under a new coach or if I wanted to go to another club. So I opted for a change," he said.
"Jose Anigo (Marseille coach) told me that he really wanted me to play. It was good to know that a coach was really counting on me."
Anigo is delighted with Cheyrou's capture and is sure he will bring many qualities to the Marseilles team.
"He has a good left foot, he's athletic and he's able to score with headers," said the French coach.
Cheyrou could make his move to Marseilles permanent at the end of the year long agreement.
