Bruno Cheyrou is determined to prove the doubters wrong and repay Gerard Houllier's faith by producing his best football for Liverpool this season.

Cheyrou admits he was disappointing last year in his debut season in the Premiership, but he has promised that Liverpool fans will see the best of him over the coming months.

The French midfielder told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I never doubted myself, but I have to admit it wasn't easy for me last year.

"I didn't think it would take me so long to adapt to the league and to such a big club like Liverpool. It's true that it took me too long to settle in.

"I know that after a bad season you need to give more than one hundred per cent to prove you are able to play here and to prove you can give something to the team. I worked hard in France before pre-season started and then worked very hard when we came back to Melwood.

"Now it's a new season and a new start for me. I've been unlucky to have some back trouble over the last few weeks but hopefully that can be sorted out. I want to be able to give what I gave to the team during pre-season.

"You will definitely see the best of Bruno Cheyrou this year."
