Roy Hodgson insists he would have no qualms about starting both Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger against Wolves on Wednesday night despite their shortage of match fitness.
A hamstring injury has sidelined Gerrard since our clash with Stoke City on November 13, while Agger's calf problems have meant he has not featured since a substitute appearance against Sunderland on September 25.
But Hodgson has no concerns about their ability to start against Mick McCarthy's strugglers.
"Both are very experienced players, both know their jobs and both once fit are always ready to step in," the boss told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"Steven has actually been fit and ready for the last two matches which were called off.
"Daniel was ready for the last game but it hasn't hurt to have another few days with him. He hasn't played for a longer period of time so there's an argument he'll lack a little bit of match fitness, but he's certainly fit enough to start matches. And you can't get match fitness until you play."
Meanwhile, Hodgson revealed how both Jay Spearing and Jamie Carragher are making good progress from ankle and shoulder injuries respectively.
"Jay was involved in training to a much greater degree today and on Thursday he'll start with the group again," said the gaffer.
"Jamie is still a while away but his progress is exceptional and the shoulder specialist is very happy with him and thinks he's ahead of schedule."
Both injured players will watch from the sidelines as the Barclays Premier League's bottom club visit Anfield.
Despite Wolves' position at the foot of the table, Hodgson is warning against complacency.
"They are bottom of the league but between position seven and eight and position 20 the points difference is not that great," he said.
"I don't really think you can clearly say at the moment, 'These are the bottom teams.' This congestion in the league means we have to be very careful when playing games because you might be playing the bottom team but in three weeks they might be eighth.
"We know what they can do, we know they'll be scrapping for their lives. They have got a very educated and well-disciplined system.
"But it's about Liverpool and what our players do. I've got great faith in the players and if we perform I'm sure we'll cause them problems."
