Glen Johnson has set his sights on an injury-free 2010-11 after admitting he is doubtful for Liverpool's final Barclays Premier League match of the season at Hull City on Sunday.
The right-back has seen his first campaign in red blighted by a series of spells on the treatment table and while he concedes it has been a source of frustration, he is determined to enjoy a more sustained run in the team next term.
"I'm pushing to be fit for the weekend but it's a bit doubtful at the moment," he said.
"You get a run in the team and start doing well and then you get an injury.
"You are then in the gym for a month or so trying hard to get over the injury, and then it just keeps repeating. I have had so many injuries this season it has been frightening but next season can't be as bad, surely."
As England's first choice right-back, Johnson is confident he can shrug off the injury in time for this summer's World Cup finals, a tournament the Three Lions are expected to excel at.
"You can never be too confident," warned Johnson.
"It's going to be a massive tournament with a lot of good players and a lot of good teams so you can't go there expecting too much.
"We have just got to prepare ourselves and make sure we are at the best of our ability in each game and take it from there."
