Fabio Aurelio has handed Roy Hodgson a boost by playing 75 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday - and he now hopes to return to the squad for Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash with West Ham United at Anfield.
The Brazilian left-back has not featured for the first team since the Europa League win in Trabzonspor on August 26 having been sidelined with Achilles and groin problems.
However, after working with Dr Peter Brukner and his sports science team, Liverpool's No.6 made a successful return to action for the reserves against Blackpool.
"I feel good after the 75 minutes for the reserves and I'm ready for Saturday if the manager needs me," Aurelio told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"I have been training well and I was in the squad for the Stoke game but didn't make the bench. Hopefully I can play on Saturday.
"It was good to get some minutes against Blackpool and I enjoyed being back. Hopefully I can start a run of games for the first team now.
"It has been frustrating not to play but I have been working hard and kept my confidence up.
"I had an Achilles problem and then after I played for the reserves in a friendly at Huddersfield I suffered a small groin problem, but now I feel good and I'm ready to work hard for the manager.
"The more you play the more confidence you have. I'm feeling good and just want to play again."

Aurelio is itching for a chance to get back in the first XI and help Liverpool in their quest to reach the top four as quickly as possible.
"It's always great to play at Anfield and I want to help the team get back to winning ways," he said.
"I also want to score my first goal for Liverpool at Anfield because all of my goals for the club have been away from home.
"We know the team needs to improve but we showed against Chelsea that we have the quality.
"I know we are not at our best level at the moment but we know we can improve and the only way to do this is by hard work."
