Lucas Leiva claims the fight for fourth place could go right until the last game of the season.
Rafael Benitez's side are fighting with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Aston Villa for that coveted Champions League spot, and the Reds No.21 insists the team have the strength of character to achieve their goal.

"It might even go right until the last game of the season to decide fourth place," Lucas told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"We have difficult games against Manchester United and Chelsea, while City also have games against Tottenham, Arsenal, Aston Villa and United. It will be an interesting race and hopefully we can finish fourth.
"We kept another clean sheet against Manchester City which was a positive and I think we are stronger in defence now.
"At the beginning of the season we were conceding too many goals, especially from set pieces and we have improved a lot on this.
"We were disappointed not to win against City because we wanted the three points.
"We had the opportunity to go fourth but I think it will be the same until the end of the season with four teams battling for the Champions League place, and I hope we'll be there."
The Reds return to domestic action on Sunday when they take on Blackburn Rovers at Anfield, and the Brazilian international insists it's vital they return to winning ways.
"It's an important game for us because from our last two games we lost at Arsenal and drew with Manchester City, so we need the three points on Sunday," he said.
"We are in good form at home and have won our last five league games at Anfield. It will be important to keep the clean sheet first and then score goals to get the three points and stay in the race for the top-four.
"We drew 0-0 with them at Ewood Park in December but it was a game we could have won."
Last season at Anfield the Reds produced a superb performance when they beat Blackburn 4-0. Lucas came off the bench to set up a goal for David Ngog and it was a match memorable for a stunning goal from Fernando Torres.
"I remember coming off the bench to set up a goal for David and we played really well that day," he recalls.
"Fernando scored an amazing goal. Carra played a ball up to him and he hit a fantastic shot into the net."
Earlier this year Lucas made his 100th appearance in a red shirt during the 2-0 win over Tottenham and he added: "That was special for me as it's the first time I've achieved that at a club.
"At Gremio I didn't play 100 games and it was a really happy moment for me as it's not easy to play 100 games for Liverpool. I have more targets now and hopefully I can keep doing well for the team and play as many games as I can.
"I'm feeling really good and I think I'm getting better in each game.
"I need to keep working hard and try to improve and give something for our fans."
