Fernando Torres returned to Melwood for the first day of pre-season training this morning - and our photographer was there to take some exclusive snaps.

It may have been a day off for the rest of Roy Hodgson's squad, but for Torres and his fellow World Cup finalists, including Spanish teammate Pepe Reina and Dutch star Dirk Kuyt, it was a chance to be assessed by the club's medical staff as they gear up for the new campaign.
