Jonjo Shelvey today spoke of his determination to return to action as soon as possible and continue his progression under the stewardship of Kenny Dalglish.
Liverpool's No.33 has been ruled out for 12 weeks with a tendon problem in his knee but he is eager to work hard and build on the impact he has made in 2010-11.
"I just want to get the problem sorted now and be back and help the team as quickly as possible," Shelvey told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"I have really enjoyed this season and working with Kenny Dalglish is amazing. He has brought a real buzz around the place and he has lifted everyone.
"The team morale is much stronger now than it was and I think we have seen that in the performances and results we have given.
"Who would have said even a couple of months ago Liverpool would beat Chelsea away? Kenny has got us playing well and even though I was gutted I couldn't play in the game because of my knee, I was delighted to see the lads win."
Shelvey admits he has had words of comfort from the likes of Jamie Carragher to help him in his period of rehabilitation.
He added: "Some of the players here have had this injury before including Jamie so if I could have half of the carer that he has had then I would be happy with that.
"I have got some great people around me at the club to help me and keep my spirits up."
Since the arrival of Dalglish back to the managerial chair Shelvey had appeared off the bench in every one of the games leading up to last Sunday.
"It is nice to be seen as a good player by someone like Kenny Dalglish, and for him to have put me on in every game since his return is just an honour for me to be honest and an honour for my family," he said.
"The manager just told me to keep doing what I have been doing and it's nice to know that he's considering me and it gives me a good feeling.
"I really enjoyed being involved in the Merseyside derby. The atmosphere was amazing and it was something I will never forget.
"Hopefully they will be many more of these games to come for me in the future for Liverpool on the winning side of course."
Liverpool continue their Europa League campaign with a clash against Czech outfit Sparta Prague on Thursday and it's a competition that has seen Shelvey make a real impression in this season.
"I can take a lot of experience from that and I have a lot to thank Roy Hodgson for as he helped me a lot as a player," he added.
"Playing in Europe helps you improve as a player because you have to adapt to a new style of play and using different tactics."
Shelvey is now hoping Dalglish's side can go all the way to the Europa League final in Dublin and a dream scenario of his would be to return in time to play a part in it.
He added: "Going back a year ago I never thought I would get the chance to play for Liverpool so for me to play in Europe was a massive step for me.
"To be part of a Liverpool squad that got to a European final is something words can't describe. It's something you dream of as a little boy."
