Martin Skrtel has broken a metatarsal in his right foot, Rafa Benitez today confirmed.

The good news of Glen Johnson returning to first-team training this morning was tarnished after x-rays confirmed the worst on an injury Skrtel sustained in the 3-1 victory over Unirea.

Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv: "We were really disappointed after the game because it was a good result but then we had the bad news about Martin. He's had x-rays today and they confirmed he has a broken metatarsal.

"We have to check over the next couple of days how long it will take to recover."

On Johnson, who hasn't featured since sustaining a knee injury in the 1-0 victory at Villa Park in December, Benitez added: "He's doing well. He was training today with the team - a light training session.

"I was watching him and he was quite sharp. But Sunday will be too soon."

GET WELL SOON SKRTEL, YOU WAS STARTING TO PERFORM GREAT AGAIN NOW THIS BAD NEWS, AT LEAST JOHNSON IS SOME CREATIVITY ON THE RIGHT SIDE. YALA WILL HAVE TO BE FORTH CHOICE FOR A WHILE NOW AT LEAST WE HAVE SEEN SOME YOUNG PLAYERS LIKE KELLY,PACHECO ETC BREAK THROUGH THIS YEAR.
