Torres or Fowler? Reina or Clemence? We gave 10 Kop heroes the unenviable challenge of picking their all-time Liverpool XI. Today a man who played in almost every position and now manages in the USA, Steve Nicol, takes up the challenge.
Goalkeeper: Bruce Grobbelaar: Clem was a great keeper but I played with Bruce more so I'll say him.
Right-back: Phil Neal. Never gave the ball away and as good a penalty taker as there has ever been
Left-back: Steve Nicol - Ha ha. I'll stick myself in there with Barnesy in front of me!
Centre halves: Alan Hansen and Mark Lawrenson. The perfect partnership.
Central midfield: Graeme Souness and Steven Gerrard. A great combination. With Souey sitting and Gerrard getting forward that would be a fantastic pairing.
Left wing: John Barnes. What a winger. A sensational player.
Right wing: Ray Houghton. He was someone that you wouldn't have realised how good he was unless you played with him.
Strikers: Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush. Another awesome partnership. Rushie was the finisher with Kenny the architect.
