Rafa Benitez admits he is sometimes surprised by the goalscoring antics of Fernando Torres.
El Nino has bagged 20 goals in 29 appearances in 2009-10 following a brace against Sunderland.
Benitez is delighted with his compatriot - but insists he can still get even better.
"Me and Fernando were talking on Sunday morning about how things are going. I can see he's focused and he wants to do well," said Benitez.
"We signed him and we knew he was good, but yes, we're surprised sometimes! But still my idea is he can improve.
"He knows he can improve and he knows how, that's the main thing. Saying this, I am really pleased because he got two goals and again it was a great performance from the team. It's what the team needed.
"All the players we have at this moment are important and Fernando is one of these key players. He is a very important player."
