It was with great sadness that Liverpool Football Club learned of the passing away of one of our most loyal and passionate supporters earlier this month.
Ann North was known as 'Ann of Anfield' after missing just 20 games in 40 years - and she saw all seven European Cup finals.
Her support was so dedicated that she became friends with the likes of Kenny Dalglish and Phil Neal.
Ann, a founder member of the Grimsby Liverpool Supporters Branch, died aged 77 following a short illness on January 10.
Her daughter Denise said: "She was known as Ann of Anfield, and as far as she was concerned, there was not a bad person in Liverpool.
"She never needed to have a season ticket in the 80s because she used to take Phil Neal fresh Grimsby fish.
"Phil rang her just a week before she died. When I put the phone to her ear it lit her up. It was so fantastic to see. She came back.
"Everything was complete and she did what she wanted to do."
Denise added: "Following the Hillsborough disaster, which she saw first-hand with dad and their nine-year-old granddaughter Katie, she sold all her memorabilia in a fundraising effort. Kenny Dalglish bought her football shirt, and then gave it back because he knew it meant so much to her."
When Ann was diagnosed with cancer, she and Denise made a list of things to do before she died - which they called 'The Bucket List'.
"We took her on a trip to Paris first class on the Eurostar," said Denise.
"She also got to spend time with Seventies football legend Brian Hall, who organised her day out at the Melwood training ground, and along with my daughter met Rafa Benitez, taking pictures with the whole team."
Ann, who leaves behind three children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, was put to rest at a funeral in Grimsby on Friday.
