Victor Palsson admitted he thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing alongside Steven Gerrard in central midfield during the 2-2 draw with Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park on Friday night.
The Icelandic midfielder was given the skipper's armband by John McMahon and gave an assured display alongside the club captain.
"It was a fantastic experience for me to play alongside Steven who is one of the best midfielders in the world," Palsson told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"I was a little bit nervous playing alongside Steven, especially with me being made captain. I asked him if he wanted the armband but he told me to take it and enjoy it.
"He was talking to me throughout the game and I enjoyed it. It was just great to play alongside him.
"Being captain carries a big responsibility but I enjoyed it and hopefully I can continue this season."
The Icelandic youth international is heading into his first full season as a Liverpool player since arriving at Anfield from Danish outfit AGF Arhus in January.
He has settled in well to life in England and is sure to be a key player for the reserve team this season.
"I like Liverpool, it's a great city and just a fantastic experience to play for this club," he added.
"I can't wait for the start of the season now and hopefully we can have a good campaign."
