A young Liverpool side lost 3-0 to Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night.
John McMahon's side gave their all but they couldn't match the Hatters who were superior on the night.
Liverpool's youngest ever player Jack Robinson started the game and Spanish starlet Suso again impressed.
Luton are managed by former Red Richard Money and new signings Danny Crow and Dan Gleeson who both found the net while Matthew Barnes-Homer was also on target.

Despite the defeat, McMahon admitted he could take a lot of positives from the outing.
"Luton are a good side and we can have no complaints about the result," McMahon told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"This was a really good test for our players and they know they have been in a game.
"Young Robinson did really well at left-back in what was his first 90 minutes of pre-season after playing for the first team in Switzerland.
"Conor Coady and Andre Wisdom kept battling all night at the back. It wasn't easy for them but they never stopped working and gave their all.
"Suso is a real talent and hopefully he can play a key role for us this season."
Liverpool team: Dean Bouzanis, John Flanagan (Emmanuel Mendy 45), Jack Robinson, Alex Cooper, Andre Wisdom, Conor Coady (Jakob Sokolik 70), Toni Silva (Vincent Weijl 45), Victor Palsson, Nikola Saric (Michael Ngoo 70), Suso, Gerardo Bruna (Michael Roberts 60).
McMahon's side are next in action on Saturday when they bid for a cup double against Skelmersdale United in the final of the Liverpool Senior Cup, at the Ashley Travel Stadium.
Kick-off on Saturday is at 3pm.
Extra-time will be played if the scores are level, followed by a penalty shoot-out if needed.
