Wilson rejects mega-deal for Liverpool
Teenager Danny Wilson has snubbed Champions Rangers by rejecting a staggering £12,000 a week extended contract in favour of a move to Liverpool.
The 18-year-old was offered the biggest ever financial deal for a player in his age group at Ibrox but has opted to sign for Rafael Benitez's side later this week.
The central defender who has also knocked back interest from Spurs was earning just £700 a week last year before breaking into the Rangers first team and making a significant impact on both the domestic and European fronts.
His decision to head for Anfield in a transfer worth up to £3m with add ons means he will be sacrificing playing in the Champions League next season with both Rangers and Spurs.
But the Scottish Football Writers' and PFA Young Player of the Year who made 24 first team appearances in his debut season scoring once has been lured to Liverpool to work with former Celtic and Scotland legend Kenny Dalglish.
Wilson has just over a year on his current contract and boss Walter Smith was keen to keep him for the longer term believing it would benefit his career and secure him more regular first team football.
Livingston-born Wilson came through Rangers youth system. He made his debut against Dundee last October and the following month the then 17-year-old became the youngest Rangers player to ever play in the Champions League.
In total he has made 24 appearances this season and scored his first goal for the club in their recent 4-1 win over Hearts.
