Hungarian striker Krisztian Nemeth is one of the most exciting prospects on Liverpool's books.

The youngster has yet to earn a first-team breakthrough, though he has certainly made an impression at reserve level since arriving from MTK Hungaria alongside compatriot Andras Simon in the summer of 2007.

The move followed a series of eye-catching performances at the previous year's UEFA U17 Championships.

Nemeth quickly set about finding the back of the net, bagging a brace on his second-string debut against Man City.

If this had Kopites purring, a double in the mini-derby a week later really got the terraces buzzing.

The hotshot went on to score his ninth of the league campaign as the reserves clinched the national title at Anfield against Aston Villa in May 2008.

Later that month, after netting the crucial goal against Portugal to take Hungary U19s to the European Championships, he received his first senior international call up.

A series of injuries disrupted Nemeth's progress in 2008-09. His luck was epitomised by a broken cheekbone during a first appearance for loan side Blackpool, forcing an early return to Melwood.

The prodigy was fit in time to join the first team for tours of Switzerland and Asia during the 2009-10 pre-season. The highlight came with a brace against Singapore in one of a clutch of friendly appearances.

In August 2009, Nemeth joined Greek club AEK Athens in a season-long loan deal. The move brought three goals in 15 league appearances and helped cement his place in Hungary's U21 team.
